Given that Nomads.com is now βfreeβ I think there could be some updates perhaps to the current location and trip history setup to accommodate wider range of remote experiences and those new to nomading but may have travel experience that informs their interests, travel wishlist, etc.
I have worked remote at different periods but still based out of specific cities kind of like a home base. So while Iβll often go on trips of varying duration and continue working while Iβm there I still end up coming back to base. The question is how to communicate this in trip history which seems a bit more setup to a live in location A for a month, move to new location B for a few months, move to new location C for a few months (more traditional nomading I believe?)
I could portray living in base city as no different as a repeated series of trips broken up by other locations but that seems to muddy the history a bit. Repetition is okay if it adds value but in this case itβs a workaround communicating something that could be communicated more succinctly with say a separate Base City location list injected visually by default into trip history gaps (based on time overlaps) (an assumption of course but could be amended).
As an example, Iβm living in Base city A for past 6 years but say have taken a handful of 1-3 month trips to live, work, etc. to several different locations in that time span.
Should that be shown as ?
City A (Base)
City B
City A (Base)
City C
City A (Base)
City D
Or something likeβ¦.
| Base | ββββ | Explore |
| ββββββββ| City B |
| ββββββββ| City C |
| ββββββββ| City D |
| City A | ββββββββ- |
Also seems to be geared a bit toward more planned durations instead of a bit more flexibly open-ended stays. If staying in country on visa then there is likely of course a definite end of stay unless otherwise mitigated but if say staying in new city within oneβs country of origin for a few months then could technically be open-ended.
This may all be possible already and Iβve just missed something during setup. If intentional product-wise then understandable.
Added quick HTML mockup proposal to better communicate
