Cashless in China

I accidentally forgot my main cards last trip and had exactly zero problems in China nonetheless, it's totally cashless these days. Alipay is trivial to set up and link with international cards. There's nothing difficult about WeChat (except maybe it still needs a referral?), also allows to link and pay with international cards. And noone goes to China on a serious trip without it anyway
